STEM Day at Lincoln Park ZooLights
December 8, 2019 @ 3:00 pm - 4:30 pm CST
Hello STEM ladies!
You are invited to join us for a day of holiday fun at the Lincoln Park Zoo on Sunday, December 8th. Come network with Exelon employees over hot chocolate and snacks before learning what elements of STEM are used to create the lighting exhibits during a behind-the-scenes tour. You’ll then be able to explore the light displays on your own with your new insider knowledge of the magic of ZooLights!
ComEd (Exelon’s Chicago energy utility) is a proud sponsor of ZooLights. This event is FREE and open to STEM Academy alumns and young women in high school who are interested in STEM. Admission remains free for families that wish to visit ZooLights separately from the behind-the-scenes tour.
There are only 30 spots available so sign up NOW before they’re gone! (Please don’t forward this invitation.)
Timeline and event info:
3:00pm: arrive in Park Place Café Tadpole Room for networking with Exelon employees, hot chocolate, and snack.
3:50 – 4:30pm: Tour with the Lincoln Park Zoo staff and their Illuminight lighting partner for a behind-the-scenes look at how the lights exhibits are created, the Zoo’s switch to LED lights, and this year’s new conservation effort to save the lights for reuse for future years.
4:30pm: program portion of event ends and you are free to explore ZooLights on your own. (Please note: since this portion is unchaperoned you may arrange to explore with each other or meet up with your family to enjoy the lights.)

Trains
The Brown line and Purple line stop at the Armitage station, which is about one mile west of the zoo. Exit and walk east on Armitage.
– Two entrance gates: West Gate at the corner of Stockton & Webster, and the East Gate entrance from the zoo parking lot. It is recommended to get dropped off and enter through the West Gate rather than having to transit through the parking lot.
– Tadpole Room at Park Place Café: we are meeting in the downstairs level of Park Place Café, the food court. When you enter from the north side doors, you will head right to go down the stairs. (There is also an elevator.) Once down, bathrooms will be to your left and you will head right down the hallway. At the end you will turn left and the Tadpole Room will be on your left.
